About SESAMA BIOLAB (SBL) &
SESAMA Community Screening Centres (SCSC)

SESAMA BioLab (SBL)

These screening labs are developed based on two types:

  1. Primary SBL with the capabilities of managing a higher load of screening and processing tests results and the ability to also undertake more specific tests
  2. Secondary SBL with a reduced capability and capacity but more focussed on rapid test analysis and focussed on local communities.

Both types of SBL are equipped with Medical Device Authority (MDA)-approved equipment with all the necessary accreditation and certification, and are operated by a qualified team of lab technologists and clinical microbiologist.

SESAMA Community Screening Centre (SCSC)

These SCSC are identified and registered screening centres that are connected to the SSLC to create a supporting network for screening within a community. This is defined by districts or even at the level of townships. It serves primarily to manage the public walk-ins for screening, but some rapid on-site testing and analysis will also be made available.
